Bacaan
Coral reefs cover less than one percent of the ocean floor, yet they support about a quarter of all marine species. Reefs are built by tiny animals called polyps, which live together with algae. The algae provide food for the polyps through photosynthesis and give corals their bright colors. When ocean temperatures rise for too long, the polyps expel the algae, and the coral turns white. This process, known as bleaching, does not kill the coral immediately, but if the water stays warm, the coral may starve and die.
